Our program consists of two weeks of adventure camping throughout the northern woods of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We utilize many state and national parks, public water areas, and adventure organization facilities. Each excursion highlights a high-energy excursion and focused area of Biblical study. At the end of our program, our campers have been confronted with life-changing truths and have gained unforgettable memories. This is a summer you will never regret!
Segment 1: Base Camp
days 1-7
When our campers arrive to camp, they get to hop in our truck and get their personal gear shuttled to our cabins on the back side of our property.
It is here that we spend our first seven days of camp, learning skills necessary for their upcoming expedition. In teams, the young men forge new relationships and are challenged with daily challenges and team-building events.
Segment 2: Adventure Expedition
days 8-12
After a week at camp, our campers are ready to hit the road and head to their new adventure. For the first camp, we take our campers to backpack along the Picture Rocks National Shoreline. The second group of campers enjoy a great paddle down the Flambeau River.
It is rewarding to both camper and staff member to see each young man apply his skill training. It is this sense of fulfillment that is helpful to instill these new skills for future experiences.
After having a week for the staff to build relationships with the campers, we consider this trip to be a valuable time for our counselors and trip leaders to speak truth into the campers' lives in a personal way.
Segment 2: Father / Son Encampment
days 13-14
The last two days of our camp, we invite fathers or mentors to join our program for a weekend of relational experiences with their sons.
On Thursday evening, the fathers/mentors have a special dinner on campus while the campers make their way back from the expedition and get cleaned up from the trip. After this dinner, they enjoy a special time of fellowship around God's Word.
The goal of some of our major activities is to provide a safe place to enjoy the relationship in a group, without the stress of any relational troubles robbing from the experience. However, we also provide those quiet times around a fire or in a tent to discuss any potential complications in their relationship and plan for future success.
Our Philosophy
WildHeart purposes to use the adventure elements of our camping program as a tool to share God's Word and the gospel message of Christ. Our primary vehicle of sharing God's truth is during our daily chapels and devotional times, but we also greatly value the opportunities of "life around camp" that our counselors have to redemptively invest into relationships with our campers.
Our Mission
is to train young men as leaders in spirit, skills, and service.
Spirit
Training a young man to pursue God prepares him for a life of godliness and Biblical leadership.
Skills
Challenging a young man in areas in which he is weak, so he learns to seek and listen to wisdom.
Service
Showing a young man that his skills are to be used to serve others.
